US Green Building Council Heart of Florida Chapter
Board of Directors
President - Jennifer Langford
Vice President - Tom Files
Tom Files Jr. is a Florida native (born in Gainesville) who spent his high-school years traveling the state with his father. (Tom Files Sr.) After graduating high school Tom enlisted in the United States Army and attended Infantry Basic Training at Ft. Benning Ga. Once his advanced infantry training was complete he was given the opportunity to attend airborne school. Afterwards Tom

volunteered to attend the Ranger Indoctrination Program (R.I.P) which he successfully completed. Afterwards he was assigned to the 1/75th Ranger Battalion in Savannah Ga. where he endured three years of intense special operations training. Tom attended and graduated Ranger School due to his leadership and drive as an E-3.
After receiving full custody of his oldest daughter he transitioned from active service status to becoming a student and Florida National Guardsman. He departed from Savannah in August of 2001 only months before the tragic events of Sept. 11. Some of his comrades were lost in actions that followed and Tom was subsequently activated and deployed to Iraq with his Florida National Guard Unit in 2003. Upon returning home Tom transitioned out of the military and due to injuries received (training related) during his service was given the status of a service disabled veteran.
He has worked in every capacity in the construction field on a multitude of projects with Feasterco Construction, Inc. based out of Ocala, FL. He started from the bottom gaining invaluable knowledge as a laborer, carpenter (form and trim), foreman, superintendent, and ultimately project manager. He successfully passed the Florida State
Examination as a Certified General Contractor. Tom also successfully attained the designation of LEED AP BD + C (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional for Building Design + Construction) awarded by the USGBC (United States Green Building Council). Tom was one of original volunteers to help form a local branch in Marion County for the Heart of Florida Chapter of the USGBC and still participates today. Tom Files is now president of T2 Construction Management, LLC. The company services the needs of injured individuals transitioning into their home environment through home modifications. The company also deals in custom residential and small scale commercial projects as well.
Tom is married to Stacey Files (grade school sweet hearts) and is the proud father of two daughters. Kyra Teresa Files and Khloe Grace Files. “My experiences in the building industry have been diverse and rewarding. I want your project to be successful and I will work diligently to ensure nothing less. Whether I am managing a multi-million dollar commercial project or a custom home, T2 Construction Management is up for the challenge.” “Sustainable design is important to everyone including future generations. I feel that development especially in areas that are virgin to such disturbance should be well thought out and circumvented whenever there is a less environmentally intrusive option that could serve the same purpose. I obviously make a living through development but I feel it is our generations’ responsibility to start making a concerted effort to build smarter.”
