President's Message
On behalf of the USGBC Heart of Florida Chapter Board of
Directors, I would like to welcome you to our website. Please,
take a look around and find a way to get involved with our
organization! We have committees to join, we have both
informational and social events, we give back to the community in
various activities, we learn, we teach and we have fun making the
world a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable place.
If you are not currently a member, please, consider joining. Membership dues not only supports the various activities that we have
during the year here but supports activities such as our Legislative
Day in March, when we meet with our state representatives and further
the cause of sustainability in our State Government. Other
activities that are supported locally include helping Alachua Habitat
for Humanity build a LEED certified home and making the schools for
our children healthier places to be.
Our founding President, Bahar Armaghani, has been a leader in our
community and a tireless advocate of local sustainability. She
said, in the last President's message: "Each decision we make
has profound consequences on the world and those around us. By
joining the USGBC Heart of Florida Chapter, you've taken the first
step toward making our world a better place, and I am truly grateful
for your involvement and dedication." I could not state
it any better. Welcome to the Heart of Florida USGBC. We
hope you find the tools you need here.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions, suggestions, or
other ways we can help you, your organization, or your community by
making your homes, your businesses and your neighborhoods sustainable
and better places to be.
Sincerely,
Mary Alford
